We are a family of proud native Texans (is there any other kind of native Texan?). But we also realized that we have an in-dwelt desire to experience places outside this great state. In 2008 we started thinking play-seriously about spending time either traveling through, or living in another country… mostly the Spanish speaking ones.

Six years later, we had no idea those plans would turn into moving half way across the globe for an indefinite amount of time. In the summer of 2014 we packed our bags and moved to Central China. We planned to spend the first 2 years learning/mastering Mandarin, and chronicling our adventures/mishaps in this — our first blog attempt. Three and a half years and one kid later, we are still learning Mandarin, and are no where close to mastering it, but we continue to chronicle our journey here.
